Answer Mayor, Cr Tony Francis thanked the person presenting the public question and commented that Council has received an initial briefing regarding officer’s investigation into this matter and I will ask Phil Josipovic, General Manager, Planning & Infrastructure to provide further information. The General Manager Planning & Infrastructure, stated that Council officers have undertaken preliminary investigations into the application process for National Heritage Listing. To be considered for listing, any place must have outstanding value to the nation on one or more of 9 criteria. Officers also had preliminary discussions with the Heritage Advisors who were involved with the Broken Hill National Heritage Listing application. Based on the information reviewed, current Council resources do not have the capacity to undertake the research and assess the likelihood of a successful application. Officers will be submitting a budget proposal for the 2017/18 financial year to complete the Heritage Study for the Borough of Queenscliffe.
